Any particular reason? Can one make a special request to have Red rings? |

I believe that the S975 is not available with Red Rings as spec'd from SRAM. You can have one made with a Red ring, which is the exact crank set that I got. You will have to pay a separate charge to buy the Red ring. |

I am very happy that I paid the extra to get the stiffer Red ring. |

I had forgotten about this. You can request an S975 with Q rings, if you want. I did :-D |

What would be the benefit of upgrading the 975 compact crank stock rings to the red rings? Are they stiffer? Lighter? More aero? |

MY quarq S975 from Quality was shipped with Red rings and there was no such up charge. (Compact rings) |

Interesting. I had to pay extra for the Red rings on my compact S975 (otherwise it would have come with Force rings) but Red rings would have been included at no extra charge if I had bought the standard 130mm BCD version. Would love to know why I was penalized for buying a compact/110mm BCD Quarq. |

In the past, we could not get the cranks from SRAM in compact with Red rings, they only came with Force rings. We had to buy compact Red rings separately, hence the upgrade cost. Since then we've been able to get SRAM compact cranks stock from SRAM with Red rings for the same price as the ones we used to get with Force rings, hence no more upgrade charge. |
