Is there any thought to having a mtn crankset? Thanks, Rob |
Jim@Quarq2 years, 2 months ago |
I run a 110bcd CinQo on my MTB but you are limited to a 34T small ring (33T if you can find one). So on my XC bike it is 1:1 in the lowest gear. I have one on my singlespeed, which works out fine because 34T is pretty standard up front. We are looking at MTB cranks, but we will need to support 4 bolt systems and a smaller inner ring. Any product is at least one year away. Jim |

I apologize in advance for all the questions. What chainrings do you use, 50-34? Is your cassette something like 11-34? Do you think it gives you enough gearing for all kinds of mountain bike riding? I would probably need a different front derailleur also, correct? I really like my two Cinqo's that I have and would like to get another if possible and not switch to a different system. On another note, my current Cinqo's are over a year old and was wondering if you recommend sending them in once per year for dynamic calibration? Thanks again, Rob |
Jim@Quarq2 years, 2 months ago |
I run 46-34 up front and 11-34 in back. The 46 is plenty big for MTB, usually people have a 42 or 44. Overall the gearing is a bit tall for general use, but not too bad. It is certainly fine if you ride in rolling or flatter terrain (Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc.) It is also fine for racing, the low gear is 1:1 so when that is not enough, you are not worse off to just push / run. If you CinQo is a year old, you are welcome to it back and we will give it the check up for free. Email us at thinkfast@quarq.us to arrange. Jim |

Sorry for all the questions, what kind of FD and shifter do you use for the double chainring up front? |
Jim@Quarq2 years, 1 month ago |
I currently have a Deore LX FD from around '04 or '06. The main thing is to make sure it can get positioned vertically correctly and not have the inner plate contact the 34T ring. |

You will have Rotor 3D 110 BCD soon. Can it be used in Rotor 3D 110/74 BCD 2x9 MTB Crank? Or will you support SRAM XX Crank? |
Jim@Quarq2 years, 1 month ago |
Yes, the Rotor 3D 110 bcd CinQo will fit the Rotor 3D MTB cranks. However, there is no 74bcd inner ring. Jim |
Lan2 years, 1 month ago |
I don't quite catch your meaning. for the following, which one is right?
|
Jim@Quarq2 years, 1 month ago |
Lan, We only have one 110bcd Rotor CinQo. It is primarily for road use, but works nicely on a mountain bike. You can run one or two 110 bcd rings on it, but there is no mounting point at all for a 74bcd ring. So you will have power measurement in both rings, but the chainring sizes are limited. I use 46/34T on mine. Jim |
Lan2 years ago |
So you use 46/34 now Does the chainline is too large (>>50mm)? Do you move one washer from BB drive-side to BB non-drive-side to drease chainline? Therefore, one washer in BB drive-side and two washers in BB non-drive-side. |

"We only have one 110bcd Rotor CinQo. It is primarily for road use, but works nicely on a mountain bike." Does this comment mean the 110bcd Rotor CinQo is available for Rotor 3D or is in reference to the old Agilis one? |

Hi! I really appreciate the advent of Quarq in the power meter market. It seems the superior product to me. I am looking forward to a Cannondale SL spider which fits with SRAM XX chainrings! That would be really great! Hannes |
philipt1 year, 10 months ago |
I would buy a Quarq if it was mtb-specific. My preference would be one with XX chainrings. I already have a PowerTap, but it is built into a wheel. Not only do I have multiple mountain bikes, but they have different wheel sizes. I'll reiterate: I WILL BUY A QUARQ WHEN A MTB-SPECIFIC VERSION IS OFFERED. Now, get to work! |

don't forget about Shimano XTR 2X |

Do you support the new Rotor 3D titanium crankset MTB (double)? If so, all of us MTB guys have a real option, cause they provide a setup of 27/40 and a bcd of 110/ 74 x 5 with or without Q-rings. If this is correct, can I ship the crank to you for mounting of the CinQo? (Please let us know since they are running a timelimited offer on: dulight.fr) |

+1 regarding the wish to see a MTB XX CinQo. I love my road Cinqo, and will be first in line when you offer a Specialized XX set-up. For what it's worth, SRM is offering both a Cannondale 2x10 set-up, and an FSA 2x10 set-up. |

+1 request for a MTB XX CinQo or at least a Specialized XX set-up. |

Hey! I just noticed the Cinqos on the SRAM XO and on C'dale XX, that you posted on twitter... Any news you want to share? I don't see anything for sale; are these prototypes, are "ready for prime-time"? |
Mieke@Quarq1 year, 3 months ago |
Those were prototypes that we had at Interbike. Jim and others here at the office have been putting them through the paces. So far so good. We want to do a bit more testing though to make sure everything works as it's supposed to through all kinds of weather / terrain before we build a ton of them. Hopefully we'll have something in the first half of next year for sale. |

Awesome. I would love to see a CinQo XX on my Top Fuel. |

Hopefully it will be available available in Europa !!! |

Jim, Are you using the Rotor 3D road crank arms and spindle on your mtb? |
Lil Gas Passer1 year ago |
Any updates on the mountain bike cinQo? Just to be clear, I'm available as a beta tester, if you're looking for any help speeding things along ;) |
Mieke@Quarq1 year ago |
We have plenty of testers. We just need to get more machine time in between the road CinQos... We're still shooting for a late spring release. |
MisterC1 year ago |
If you give us an idea as to what the crank options will be it will seriously help me resist building a PT wheel between now and late spring. wink wink. |
Mieke@Quarq10 months, 1 week ago |
The first units will likely be for SRAM XO and Cannondale Hollowgram cranks. |
MisterC10 months ago |
Great to know they are on the way. Sadly I'll be holding out for either XTR or Rotor options. But still, very exciting! |

I could test the crap out of one of those in the Lumberjack 100 in a couple of weeks.... |

Late spring has arrived! Any updates on the SRAM XO crank? |

Are the SRAM X0 cranks still on the agenda? Any news? |

Quarq's been aiming to have the MTB powermeter ready by late spring or early summer. We're now looking at late summer. --Troy@Quarq |
Troy_Quarq7 months, 3 weeks ago |
Just to add to that... There's no technical hold up. They're currently in testing. --Troy@Quarq |

Troy, any plans to offer a 172.5 mtb crankset ? I set my MTB bike up as close as I could to my road bikes, including xtr 172.5 crankset. Thanks for your response. Keith |
jvandyk6 months, 2 weeks ago |
Will the 2x10 cranks also work with 9 speed setups? Thanks. Jack |
Freezeman6 months, 1 week ago |
Thanks Troy! I am ordering my wheels. It will be nice to drop the weight of the Power Tap hub. |
Troy_Quarq6 months, 1 week ago |
I do not know yet what lengths will be offered. 2x10 cranks will work with 9-speed rear cassettes. --Troy@Quarq |

just came across this thread and was very excited. i've been a long-time quarq user on my road bike. i just recently made the switch to 2x10 cranks (and settled on the sram xx system)....and while riding an endurance race i recalled a teaser pic jim had posted a long time ago of a sram 2x10 setup that was being researched. i've been amazed at how quickly the xx setup shifts in the front (lightning fast....seriously as fast as my road bikes); i even tried the xtr 2x10, and while it is great, it didn't shift as fast as xtr. based on what i see from SRM, i'm guessing that the quarq may be based on the x0 crankset, not xx. one reason i selected the xx crankset was that it came in a 156Q version, and i found that it works better for me to have the cranks as narrow as possible to get as close as i can to my road setup. if/when the quarq product is offered, will it be available in a 156Q version? i have to temper my excitement a bit as it looks like the x0 is not offered in a narrow-Q version (the only spec i've been able to find is for the SRM x0 crankset, with Q of 168.5mm. i appreciate any info you are at liberty to provide. i'm going to guess no to the xx and no to the 156 q. thanks! |

hey troy, any updates? will the mtb spider be available for s works mtn cranks too? or, just xo cranks? please provide an update, would like to buy quarq, but srm is looking pretty tempting... thanks! |

So now that the Quattro was released at Eurobike, what is the actual release/order/purchase date (incl. QBP)? The articles on bikerumor, cyclingnews, etc didn't mention. Thanks. |
ebalog4 months, 4 weeks ago |
awesome announcement to read from quarq! i'm assuming this means the crankset is 166Q (i believe that's all that is offered for the standard XO crankset), and not the 156Q option of the XX, right? thanks for the information and development. this is exciting! |
JohanC4 months, 3 weeks ago |
Seriously! What is the hold-up? When will this be released for sale? Will it be open for European orders? Thanks, Johan in Sweden... |
ebalog4 months, 3 weeks ago |
johan: from what i read surrounding the eurobike announcements, it looks like availability is targeted for october. one thing we know for sure is that if quarq are releasing it, (a) they'll release the product when it is solid and ready to withstand the abuse riders can dish out and (b) it will be worth the wait. i'm anxious for one! |
Troy_Quarq4 months, 2 weeks ago |
We announced the Quatro MTB power meter at Eurobike. Originally we anticipated shipping them in November but now we expect to ship them in October. At this stage they will be SRAM 2x10 only with an X0-level carbon crank arm and 39/26 X-Glide chainrings. The Quatro will be available worldwide from SRAM's distributors and dealers. We will not be retrofitting spiders to existing cranks and are not yet making Specialized and Cannondale versions. I'll get back to you on Qs. --Troy@Quarq |
