Just out of curiosity, can someone explain to me what the "settling in" is? I've had 6 rides on a new SRAM s975 Quarq. Initially the zero offest was mid 20s. Then it was mid 40s. The past couple of rides it was up and in the 70-80 range. I had a 2 hour ride today and checked and manual zeroed offset numerous times to see how much drift was going on. the crank stayed between 67-71 the first hour and a half and then after my 5th 7minute interval I realized my watts were 20-30 watts higher than PE. So I pulled off and the offset had gone to 150. For the remaining ~40 minutes I checked numerous times and the offset stayed between 149-154. Does this sound like the crank is just "settling in?" |

Short answer: yes. As to what exactly occurs during settling in, I have no idea. My experience is that the calibration number will continue to creep up for a least a week or half a dozen rides. Then it will stabilize (more or less). Then, weeks or months later, it'll shift some more and "stabilize" (more or less) at a new level. My Cinquo currently returns a number in the -530 ballpark. NOTE: If you loosen and retorque the chainring bolts, you've started the whole process over again. As they say, "your mileage may vary" but this has been my experience. |
